The First United Methodist Church of Boulder

Tanho Center’s headquarters are located at the First United Methodist Church of Boulder (1421 Spruce Street). First Church has played an important role in the emergence of the Tanho Center, as the church provided key funding and Tanho under the auspices of Toni Reynolds, Hal Taussig, and Celene Lillie provided more than 25 different educational and spiritual events in relationship to a wide range of early texts from the first and second centuries.

Tanho and First Church continue to cooperate in programing, ranging from conferences to lectures to study series.

The First United Methodist Church of Boulder has a long history of scripture studies, and currently includes a Tuesday noon study series at The Lazy Dog Sports Bar and Grill in downtown Boulder as well as both a Sunday morning Forum and weekly Bible study.  FUMC's Theologian in Residence program, which celebrated its 30th year, houses theologians and scholars from around the country for times of renewal, study, and exploration with the church and community.

First Church is a vibrant presence in downtown Boulder with an expansive campus, featuring a number of regional offices of arts and social organizations and a breath-takingly beautiful indoor labyrinth, as well as a long and deep history of all kinds of social advocacy and community projects.

Pastor Matthias Krier leads the six person staff and 300 member congregation. For more information go to the church website at fumcboulder.org or call 303.442.3770.
